Starting counseling
What happens next?
Reaching out can feel like the hardest part. Here are the practical details we can confirm now.
Before the first appointment
Send a general inquiry about meeting with me in Dallas or Richardson. We can follow up about availability, fit, and scheduling. Sessions are 45 minutes, with longer appointments available in 15-minute increments when scheduled in advance.
In the first conversation
We can begin with what brings you in, what you have tried, and what you hope might change. You do not need a rehearsed explanation or a complete list of goals. We can work out where to start together.
Is working with me a good fit?
My style is casual and laid back. We can speak plainly, look honestly at what is happening, and work on practical changes. I draw on core CBT principles and my Christian worldview. If you want biblical principles to be part of counseling, we can bring them in; if you do not, you are welcome here too.
I am most interested in understanding you as a person, not handing you a formula. We can talk about whether my approach fits what you need in the first conversation.
How sessions work
My approach is primarily based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We look at thoughts, feelings, and behavior, then consider practical changes when a pattern is no longer helping. Faith can be part of our work if it is important to you; it is not a requirement.
